Indian business seeks to expand its activities on BUCE

01/23/2025

During the talks held in BUCE head office in Minsk, a major Indian importer of sawn timber voiced its intention to widen cooperation with the Belarusian exchange platform. This implies not only boosting the volume of purchases of Belarus-made sawn timber, but also exploring other promising segments of the commodity market in a bid to execute import and export transactions.

More specifically, the Indian company expressed interest in buying bleached sulfate pulp on BUCE, as well as sell nuts and other agricultural products sourced from India and neighboring countries to Belarusian consumers.

It is expected that closer interaction with BUCE will contribute to the growth of trade turnover between Belarus and India and help both countries unlock their potential in cross-border trade.

As of January 1, 2025, 8 Indian companies were accredited on BUCE, 6 of which joined the exchange in 2024. The total amount of exchange transactions concluded by the residents of India last year amounted to 1.6 million USD. 2025 also appears to be a productive year for Belarus-India exchange trading with almost 1 million USD worth of transactions already executed by Indian participants of exchange auctions. The entire volume of exchange sales came from exports of Belarusian sawn timber to India.
