BUCE discussed intensification of exchange trade with Hungary

05/31/2024

Within the frames of the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum arranged as part of the visit of Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó to Minsk, BUCE made a presentation of its capabilities and held talks with representatives of the Hungarian business community interested in operating in Belarus through the exchange platform.

Given the profile of the participants of the forum, industrial and consumer goods as well as agricultural products were identified as priority areas of Belarusian-Hungarian exchange trade. In particular, rapeseed oil, beet pulp and molasses, powdered milk and whey were shortlisted as the most promising Belarusian commodities to be exported to Hungary. These products are currently successfully sold via BUCE to a number of European countries, and due to high demand transactions are registered on a regular basis. As a result, in January-April 2024, exports of the aforementioned commodities through BUCE reached 28.5 million USD, exceeding last year’s figures by 5.4 times. As for the imports from Hungary, the Hungarian participants of the forum expressed readiness to supply seeds, lighting and equipment for the Belarusian agricultural and energy sectors.

In addition, BUCE representatives met with the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency to discuss prospects for cooperation in organizing joint information events on exchange trade for Hungarian companies.

As of May 1, 2024, 25 Hungarian residents were registered on BUCE.
