Following the visit of Al Seraj Al Mubeen Co. top manager to BUCE, there are to leverage the exchange trading platform in a bid to supply the Belarusian milk powder and beef to Iraq. According to the Iraqi businessman, Al Seraj Al Mubeen Co. specializes in importing and wholesaling food products that have significantly gown in value amid the continued instability in the global food market. This prompted Al Seraj Al Mubeen Co. to expand the geography of purchases with Belarus considered one of the most promising markets.

In the course of the talks, Aleksei Matsevilo, BUCE Vice-Chairman, expressed readiness to assist Al Seraj Al Mubeen Co. in establishing business contacts with some of the largest Belarusian dairy and meat processing plants that sell their products on the exchange platform. He also promised to provide information on the current prices for the main types of food products traded on BUCE. 

“Given the diversification of Belarusian agricultural exports, Asia and the Middle East are coming to the forefront as potential buyers. Therefore, many agricultural companies operating on our trading platform have already revised their sales policies to accommodate this trend. This said, if you place a purchase order for the goods that you need, it will be definitely fulfilled. By the way, China has already started buying milk powder via BUCE. The cargo is delivered by road and sea transport. So, it is quite possible that the same scheme can be used to deliver the Belarusian products to Iraq. We have some logistics companies among our exchange brokers that could take care of all delivery and transportation issues,” Aleksei Matsevilo believes.

In this regard, the Iraqi representative added that ensuring food security is one of the most important tasks for any country.

“With surging food prices in traditional markets, we have to look for alternative sources of supply. This is the main reason for my visit to Belarus, which ranks high among food exporting countries in Eastern Europe and beyond. We would like to buy milk powder and frozen beef here. Of course, it all depends on the price. That is why we are interested in working directly with producers and expect that BUCE will help us in this matter. Through your platform we hope to get in touch with largest local agricultural enterprises,” the Iraqi businessman said.
