Prospects of selling Belarusian fuel pellets and other timber products to Northern Europe via BUCE were discussed on January 27 during the Nordic Pellets Conference 2021 organized by the Swedish Bioenergy Association (SVEBIO). The event gathered some of the leading experts in bioenergy and biofuel producers from Denmark, France, Germany, Lithuania, Sweden and the UK. Belarus was represented by BUCE, Bellesbumprom, Bellesexpport, and Akitama. 

When presenting the export potential of the Belarusian pellet industry, Alexenader Basjliy, head of foreign relations at BUCE, noted that the share of fuel pellets in the total exports of Belarusian timber products may increase significantly in no small measure thanks to BUCE’s trading platform.

The participants of the Nordic Pellets Conference discussed a whole range of issues related to production, certification, and consumption of fuel pellets as well as the latest developments in this promising market. In particular, international experts were unanimous that the European pellets market is bound for long-term growth, which will not only encourage the local manufacturers to boost their products volumes but also increase the imports from countries outside the EU, including Belarus. Given the relatively small domestic market, Belarus may become one of the major pellet exporters in the region.
