BUCE considers launching flax fiber trades

09/22/2020

Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) is exploring the possibility of launching flax fiber exports on its platform. Offers from four Belarusian manufacturers are already available in the trading system. The terms of sale are: full prepayment with products shipped on FCA or Ex Works basis.

No deals have been made so far but BUCE officials claim that there is serious interest from foreign buyers.

“We view China as the primary market for flax fiber as this country imports over 300 million USD of these products annually. Several Chinese companies have already contacted us. They are quite happy with the terms offered by Belarusian exporters and therefore voiced willingness to buy Belarusian flax fiber on our trading platform. This said, BUCE’s main task at the moment is to find as many potential buyers as possible in order to ensure sufficient competitive environment during the trades. Foreign brokers accredited on BUCE are also involved”, BUCE press service reported.

22 Chinese companies were registered on BUCE as of September 1, 2020. Sawn timber accounted for most of the turnover with China.
