In the course of the talks held on January 28 at BUCE head office, Thomas Cappoen, Managing Director of PGS RDB Pallets, voiced the company’s intention to purchase more Belarusian timber through the exchange. 

PGS RDB Pallets is one of the biggest EPAL pallets manufacturers and suppliers in the EU with the annual turnover of 263 mln EUR. In 2018, the company made exchange transactions to the tune of 2 mln EUR. However according to Thomas Cappoen, this year the amount of timber purchased via BUCE is going to increase to meet more ambitious production targets.  

“We are first and foremost a production company, which is why the quality of raw materials, their price and steady supplies are of paramount importance to us. The conditions in the Belarusian timber market are quite favorable, although we have encountered some issues with quality control and logistics that we hope to address with your assistance”, PGS Pallets CEO said.

In this regard, BUCE Chairman Arkady Salikov reminded that BUCE has a set of measures that it can leverage to ensure that both parties to the contract fulfill their obligations in full and on time. Furthermore, later this year BUCE plans to launch a new electronic platform that will enable the participants of exchange auctions to order logistics services online on a competitive basis.

During the negotiations, the sides also discussed possible expansion of the list of products bought by PGS Pallets at the exchange as well as further cooperation prospects, including accreditation as BUCE’s broker.
