On September 16, BUCE working group took part in the 7th Belarus-Latvia business forum in Riga (Latvia) during which Anatoly Zaretski, BUCE Vice-Chairman, gave a speech on “Outlook and opportunities for using BUCE electronic platforms to boost Belarus-Latvia mutual trade”.
When speaking in front of over 100 businessmen from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, BUCE senior executive focused on the advantages of using the exchange mechanism in cross-border trade and highlighted promising areas for further development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. A positive role played by BUCE in bolstering trade and economic relations was also mentioned by Andris Ozols, Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, and Georgy Voevoda, Economic Counselor of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Latvia.
Given the importance of exchange trade instruments for establishment of closer business ties between Belarusian and Latvian economic agents, a separate section of the forum was dedicated to exchange trade in goods. The participants of the section, including Marina Dolgopolova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Latvia, examined the potential of leveraging BUCE’s electronic platforms as a means to intensify trade between Belarusian and Latvian companies and shared proposals regarding possible expansion of interplay in this field.
The 7th Belarus-Latvia business forum enabled BUCE to reach agreements with a number of Latvian companies willing to boost the volume and value of their exchange transactions, particularly with timber as well as industrial and consumer goods. Additionally, BUCE delegation managed to discuss the plans on attraction of new Baltic companies to BUCE’s trading platforms with Andris Spulis, BUCE representative in Latvia, and streamline his brokerage activity in the Latvian market.
For reference. The 7th Belarus-Latvia business forum was organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), the Society for Promotion of Latvia-Belarus Economic Liaisons (LBESVB), and the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Latvia.
