BUCE and Lithuania’s embassy intend to ramp up cooperation

11/10/2016

On November 9, Andrius Pulokas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania, and Vidmantas Verbuckas, commercial attaché, visited BUCE head office to get familiar with BUCE’s core operations and discuss promising areas of cooperation.

This visit became Mr.Pulokas’ first official visit to the commodity exchange after he assumed his office.

In the course of the meeting with BUCE administration, the Lithuanian Ambassador exchanged views on the current situation in the economies of the two countries, the future of exchange trade and the potential for intensifying collaboration between BUCE and the embassy in a bid to bring more Lithuanian companies to BUCE’s electronic platforms and boosting trade with Belarusian firms. In addition, the sides identified several prospective joint projects.

In particular, Andrius Pulokas expressed willingness to assist BUCE with establishing contacts with the Lithuanian business as well as with preparation and arrangement of international business events in Belarus and in Baltic countries.

BUCE and the Lithuanian Embassy also agreed to continue cooperating in information sharing and promotion of BUCE’s service among representatives of the Lithuanian business community. This interplay will facilitate further strengthening of Belarus-Lithuania trade and economic relations and create a conductive environment for increasing mutual trade.

For reference: Some 327 Lithuanian companies are currently registered at BUCE. In 2015, they concluded USD 60 million worth of exchange transactions.
