Over 40 Belarusian exporters attended a webinar organized by China’s biggest internet company Alibaba Group jointly with the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). The event was held on June 29, 2016 in accordance with the agreement reached during the visit of BUCE’s working group to China in April this year.
The main goal of the webinar was to explain the principles of operation of Alibaba’s B2B platform – ALIBABA.COM – as well as opportunities for promotion of Belarusian products on the Chinese market by leveraging e-commerce instruments.
In the course of the webinar, representatives of major Belarusian exporters of timber, textiles, chemicals, meat and dairy products, etc. learnt how to register as a supplier at ALIBABA.COM, how to setup an online store, how to get a higher ranking and how to promote their products using showcases and search optimization tools provided by the platform.
The participants of the webinar were particularly interested in the advantages offered by the Gold Supplier status, and namely the possibility of creating several subaccounts for one master account and thus distributing customer inquiries across different accounts and monitoring feedback quality to enhance productivity.
According to Alibaba Group representative, Alibaba Group has accumulated extensive experience of cooperation with foreign suppliers, and should Belarusian companies decide to sell their goods at ALIBABA.COM the registration process will be as smooth and seamless as possible. Alibaba customer support will render all the necessary assistance.
The webinar concluded with a lengthy Q&A session during which the participants asked a whole barrage of different questions regarding logistics, payment, order processing as well as specific aspects of trading at ALIBABA.COM. Moreover, some of the Belarusian exporters expressed willingness to create an account at ALIBABA.COM and try out this e-commerce platform as an alternative distribution channel for their products.
