On February 23, 2016 BUCE working group took part in Belarus-Italy Business Forum and a match-making session that gathered over 70 representatives of the Belarusian and Italian business community.
During bilateral talks, the Italian business people got familiar with BUCE’s core activities and opportunities for leveraging the exchange mechanism in cross-border trade. The Italian companies displayed keen interest in the electronic trading platform of industrial and consumer goods as a flexible and effective instrument for beefing up trade and economic relations between Belarus and Italy. In 2015, this platform accounted for some 18 thousand transactions worth 64 million USD concluded by Belarusian and foreign companies. Cooperation in exchange logistics was also among key topics on the agenda. Thus, registration of an exchange warehouse in Italy could help cut shipment costs for goods purchased by Italian companies at exchange auctions.
Following the forum and the business match-making session, BUCE experts and a number of Italian companies agreed to come up with specific proposals for business cooperation. In particular, Gervasi S.p.a. expressed interest in buying Belarusian sawn timber and particle boards, while RaH Energy S.p.a. voiced willingness to ship lighting equipment to Belarus and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union. Implementation of these initiatives will begin as soon as the aforementioned companies submit their accreditation documents to BUCE.
