On September 23, 2015, BUCE head office played host to a meeting of a World Bank delegation led by Oleksii Balabushko, Public Finance Specialist, with Pavel Zhukovski, Head of the Public Procurements Department of the Ministry of Trade, and Oleg Yakubovich, BUCE Senior Vice Chairman. The goal of the meeting was to get a general idea of the public procurement system operating in the Republic of Belarus and study the mechanism of holding electronic auctions and price request procedures at BUCE’s electronic trading platform (ETP).
During the talks, the sides discussed promising areas of cooperation including but not limited to the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for public procurement purposes. According to Hunt La Cascia, WB senior procurement specialist, BUCE’s experience of integrating ICT in the public procurement system meets international best practices and standards.
In addition, the World Bank representatives proposed to consider the possibility of using BUCE’s ETP for procurements within the frames of the Bank’s projects. It was agreed to continue the discussion during the international E-Procurement forum scheduled to take place in early December in Vienna (Austria).
