On March 3, 2015, as part of the plan of measures designed to intensify trade, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Lipetsk Region of the Russian Federation, a delegation of Lipetsk Region led by Igor Malenko, head of investment and international affairs of Lipetsk Region administration, visited BUCE head office.

The members of the delegation learnt about the potential of the upgraded electronic trading platform of industrial and consumer goods (ICG) as a tool to boost trade between Belarus and Lipetsk Region. The Russian side was particularly interested in such key features of the ICG platform as online trading 24/7, transparent pricing, access to a unique database of buyers and sellers from 56 countries, minimal paperwork and well-developed logistics. The head of Lipetsk delegation assured that detailed information about the ICG platform will be communicated to a wide range of Lipetsk-based companies, including residents of the special economic zone “Lipetsk” and members of Lipetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Top management of Lipetskiye Delikatesy Ltd. also expressed interest in cooperating with BUCE. The ensuing talks resulted in the agreement that BUCE’s exchange broker Birzheks CJSC will represent Lipetskiye Delikatesy Ltd. at exchange auctions in a bid to purchase raw materials for food production. Shipments of Belarusian sugar and milk powder were discussed as well.

Participation of Lipetsk companies in public procurement procedures held at BUCE’s electronic trading platform (ETP) was mentioned as another promising area of cooperation. In this respect, BUCE voiced its readiness to provide assistance to Lipetsk enterprises willing to compete with local supplies for procurement contracts.

In addition, within the frames of the previously reached agreement, BUCE is planning to arrange workshops for undergraduate students of Elets State University. These workshops will facilitate the dissemination of information about the advantages of exchange trade and help attract more Lipetsk companies to exchange auctions.
