On December 9-11, 2015 BUCE working group led by Anatoly Zaretsky, BUCE Vice-Chairman, visited Daugavpils (Latvia) to participate in the session of Latvia-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Sci-Tech Cooperation.

As part of the joint session of Latvia-Belarus Council for Business cooperation, Anatoly Zaretsky made a presentation on the “Use of BUCE exchange logistics instruments in Belarus-Latvia mutual trade”. BUCE representatives also established contacts with several local business associations, including the Belarusian Information Center in Latvia and the Association for Facilitation of Latvia-Belarus Economic Ties, and reached agreements on collaboration in raising the awareness of Latvian companies regarding the advantages of exchange trade.

In the course of the visit, BUCE working group held bilateral talks with the representatives of Latvia’s government authorities and the private sector. In particular, BUCE experts met with Peteris Dzalbe, Vice-Chairman of Daugavpils City Council, to discuss BUCE’s possible participation in the International Investment Forum in Daugavpils scheduled for July 2016. It is planned to use the Forum as a platform for a workshop for Latvian companies interested in trading with Belarus via BUCE.

Additionally, BUCE working group visited Daugavpils Locomotive Repair Plant – the largest train repair facility in the Baltic Region. During the talks, the sides looked into the prospects of buying components required for the Plant’s operation and selling the finished products at exchange auctions organized by BUCE.
