2012.08.13 | Ukraine bans dairy imports from Belarus’ BellaktUkraine has temporarily suspended imports of all products of animal origin made by Volkovysk-based Bellakt, Ukraine’s Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service said in a statement.
This ban was issued by Chief State Inspector for Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine. Following the analysis carried out by the Kiev State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary-Sanitary Examination, Bellakt products of animal origin (powdered milk for infants Bellakt 2 Bifido) were found non-complaint with microbiological indicators.
According to the official report, Bellakt 2 Bifido appears to contain mould.
In turn, experts of the veterinary monitoring and food security department of Belarus’ Agriculture Ministry said mould could have been the result of improper storage.
The parties are now investigating the issue.
