2012.08.13 | Belarus posts 12% inflation in Jan-Jul 2012 Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 12% in January-July 2012, state-owned information agency BelTA reports with reference to Vladimir Zinovski, chief of Belarus’ Statistics Committee.“In January-July 2012 staple food prices went up 11.7%; non-food prices increased 6.9%. At this rate, we can live up to the inflation forecast for the year, which stands at 20-22%. It is possible to retrain the growth in consumer prices within those limits,” Zinovski said. Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012. PRIME-TASS return |
