2012.07.30 | Belarus posts republican budget surplus at 0.1% of GDP in January-June 2012 Belarus’ Finance Ministry posted a republican budget surplus of 131.9 billion Belarusian rubles (Br) (U.S. $15.9 million at the NBB rate) in January-June 2012, or 0.1% of GDP, an official with the Finance Ministry.The republican budget indicates spending and revenues of the central administration, whereas the consolidated budget also includes local budgets. Republican budget revenues amounted to 42.4 trillion rubles ($5.1 billion) in January-June 2012, or 45.1% of the target for the whole year. Revenues from the value-added tax amounted to 19.4 trillion rubles (almost $2.3 billion, 38.7% of the year target), from income tax – Br3.3 trillion ($396.6 million, 70.3%), from foreign economic activities 11.8 trillion rubles ($1.4bn), 46.4% of the target. Republican budget expenditures reached 42.3 trillion rubles (around $5.1 billion), 45% of the target for 2012. Expenditures on welfare, science, culture, healthcare, mass media, sports, education, etc. amounted to 12.6 trillion rubles ($1.5bn), 46.9% of the target for 2012, national economy expenditures were at almost 7.7 billion rubles ($925.5 million), 44.2% of the target, and general state expenditures at 19.7 trillion rubles ($2.4 billion), 43.7% of the target. According to the new edition of the budget plan adjusted by the Finance Ministry, the 2012 republican budget revenues are projected at 94.011 trillion rubles ($11.178 billion), and expenditures at 93.919 trillion rubles. Hence, in 2012 Belarus is expected to have a deficit budget on Br91.9 billion ($10.9 million). PRIME-TASS return |
