2012.07.30 | Belarus posts 1.1% inflation for first 17 days of July Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.1% over the first 17 days of July 2012 and 11.7% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told.With the arrival of new vegetables and fruits, the retail price of beet roots grew 50%, potatoes 44.9%, carrots – 39.5%, onions – 35.6%, apples – 14.3%. The largest increase in retail prices was registered with bread and bakery goods (5.9%), vodka (4.5%), dry baby food and diet food (3.3%), prefabricated poultry (1.7%), beer (1.5%), live fish (1.4%), margarine (1.3%), melted cheese, condensed milk, wheat flour, semolina , oat flakes, spice cakes, vodka (0.8-1.2%), detergents (1%), healthcare vacations (10,8%), long-distance railway communication (4.5%), suburban train fares (20%), household services (1.8%), university tuitions (1.1%). As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
