2012.07.09 | Russia confirms results of tender for Voronezh Reg nickel fields The government confirmed on Tuesday that Mednogorsk copper sulphate plant, a subsidiary of Russia’s Ural Mining and Metallurgical Plant (UMMC) has won a tender to develop the Yelanskoye and Yelkinskoye nickel deposits in the Voronezh Region.Metals giant Norilsk Nickel, which was the second participant of the tender, initially called the results of the tender biased and threatened to contest the results amid the Voronezh Region’s citizen protests against the development of the deposits. Yelanskoye deposit’s P1 resources amount to 5,600 tonnes of copper, 54,100 tonnes of nickel, and 1,700 tonnes of cobalt. P2 resources amount to 40,300 tonnes of copper, 351,600 tonnes of nickel, and 10,300 tonnes of cobalt. Yelkinskoye deposit’s P2 resources amount to 54,600 tonnes of copper, 393,800 tonnes of nickel, and 14,400 tonnes of cobalt. PRIME-TASS return |
