2012.06.25 | Russia’s OMK unit to invest 2.4 bln rbl in pipe coatings facility

Vyksa Steel Works, a subsidiary of Russia’s United Metallurgical Company, or OMK, plans to invest 2.4 billion rubles into the expansion of the plant’s production capacity at its exterior anti-corrosion coatings facility for large diameter pipes, the plant said in a statement Friday.

The construction works are scheduled to start in July-September and finish in 2014.

The production capacity of the line is projected to increase to 750 square meters per hour from its current rate of 550 square meters per hour.

Netherland’s Selmers Technology B.V. will supply equipment for the project.

In 2011, Vyksa Steel Works pipe output decreased 13% to 1.7 million tonnes, including 1 million tonnes of large diameter pipes.
