2012.06.25 | Norilsk Nickel asks antitrust to check Norilsk-1 tender results

Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel asked the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Natural Resources Ministry to check the results of the tender for a license to develop a part of the Norilsk-1 deposit in the Krasnoyarsk Region, based on the materials seen on Wednesday.

The company asked to monitor Russia’s Federal Mineral Resources Agency to ensure compliance with the law during the tender and evaluate the legitimacy of the tender’s results.

On June 18, Russian Platinum group of companies was declared a winner of the tender to develop the southern part of the Norilsk-1 deposit.

Reserves of Norilsk-1 deposit stand at 273,200 tonnes of nickel, 378,100 tonnes of copper, 12,718 tonnes of cobalt, and 517,878 tonnes of platinum group metals under the B+C1 category.
