2012.02.20 | Minister: Ukraine plans no limits on grain exports so far Ukraine is not planning, thus far, the introduction of any temporal restrictions on grain exports despite a possible decline in the 2012 harvest forecast following unfavorable weather conditions, Agriculture Minister Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk said Wednesday.Owing to a drought that hit Ukraine in September–November 2011 and heavy frosts in February, agricultural producers are to resow winter crops on the area of about 3.5 million hectares. “We held a working meeting with grain traders and checked the balance of grain. No limitations are seen so far,” Prisyazhnyuk said. In 2011, Ukraine harvested a record of about 58 million tonnes of grain. The country intends to export roughly 26 million tonnes of grain this marketing year. PRIME-TASS return |
