2011.06.27 | NLMK to launch upgraded continuous casing machine in Oct–Dec Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel, or NLMK, plans to launch its third continuous casting machine after reconstruction sometime in October–December, the company said in a statement Thursday.Total investments in the modernization exceeded 3.7 billion rubles. As a result, the production capacity of the machine is to increase by 300,000 tonnes to 1 million tonnes of steel products. The project is a part of the company’s ongoing strategy aimed at expanding its steelmaking capacity following the launch of a blast furnace with a production capacity of 3.4 million tonnes, which is currently in the final stages of construction at NLMK’s major production site in the city of Lipetsk.
