2011.06.27 | Ministry says public sector employees’ incomes to be indexed 26.6% in May

Public sector employees’ incomes in May will be indexed 26.6%, the Labor Ministry of the country said in a comment.

“Monetary incomes received from the budget, including wages, monetary allowances, educational allowances, etc., in May 2011 are indexed 26.6%, because the consumer price index exceeded the 5% limit on a month-on-month basis.”

Consumer prices rose 13.1% in May alone.

In January-May, consumer prices increased 25.4%.

Allowances and benefits paid to unemployed persons during the retraining period will be indexed 72%.

Only the income within the minimum subsistence budget, at 343,260 Belarusian rubles (Br) is subject to indexing, under presidential ordinance #55 of January 28, 2006.

The monthly minimum wage in May is indexed 23.7% to 541,350 rubles because of the consumer price trends, the ministry said.
