2011.05.16 | Russia’s Severstal resumes ops at Columbus plant in US Russian steel and mining company Severstal said Friday that it had resumed its steelmaking and rolling operations at its Severstal Columbus plant in the U.S., which were interrupted on May 3 due to an electrical power blackout as a result of a severe storm.The plant’s operations are currently running at a reduced level and are expected to return to full production level shortly, the company said. In the U.S., Severstal also owns the Severstal Dearborn plant, with an annual production capacity of 3.4 million tonnes of steel, while the annual production capacity of Severstal Columbus amounts to 1.5 million tonnes of steel.
