2011.05.16 | Government to decide on lifting grain export ban after harvest The Russian government is expected to make a decision on lifting the grain export ban after this year’s harvest, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin reiterated Friday.“We must be sure that we will be able to satisfy domestic demand and gather the reserves the country needs,” Putin said. The ban on grain exports was introduced on August 2010 in an effort to reduce grain prices amid a severe drought. The ban was initially scheduled to end on December 31, 2010, but is currently scheduled to end on July 1. PRIME-TASS return |
