Belarus still expects to ratify the customs code of its customs union with Russia and Kazakhstan by July 1, Belarusian Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov told reporters.

He said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov had agreed to resolve disagreements between the countries and ratify the code.

Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan were initially expected to ratify the code by July 1 but in May Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Belarus was not expected to ratify it by that time.

On January 1, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan switched to a common external tariff.

On July 1, the countries are also scheduled to abolish customs clearance on the borders between them.
