2010.04.23 | Russia’s MMK steel output up 32% on year in January–March The steel output of Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) increased 32% on the year to 2.732 million tonnes in January–March, based on the company’s statement.MMK’s cast iron output rose 40.4% on the year to 2.235 million tonnes in January–March, while the production of hot-rolled stock increased 19.8% to 1.509 million tonnes, and the output of cold-rolled stock rose 33.5% to 251,000 tonnes. MMK’s production of metal products rose 28% on the year to 2.453 million tonnes in the period. In 2009, steel output by MMK decreased 20% on the year to 9.6 million tonnes. MMK, based in the city of Magnitogorsk in the Chelyabinsk Region, is Russia's largest ferrous metals producer. PRIME-TASS return |
